Scientific Name: Meleagris ocellata
Conservation Status: Near Threatened
Size: 70 – 120cm

I was lucky enough to see Ocellated Turkey when I visited Belize in 2016. This bird was seen in the grounds of Programme for Belize site Hill Bank where they are daily visitors.

As ever this picture is created using a mixture of watercolour, gouache, pencil colour an ink pen. Its hard to see from the scan of the image above but I have used some metallic paint to try and capture the colours and the pearlescent appearance of the real thing.
